“Tornado Winds” (by: Melissa Ann Holloman)

Raging on outside, the storm consume the light
In its path, there is only destruction
The windows are weeping
I know I’m safe within their keeping
The land enveloped in an eternal night

Outside the waters crash violently
Fierce is the storm howling through the day
As Nature’s Mother casts her spell
I can’t say that all has ended well
Trees falling, my mother is calling me

Rushing to the sacred center of our dwelling
We wait for the silence to fall
The walls moaning in deep despair
As debris and chaos fill the air
Broken glass, and precious trinkets dispelling

All this destruction going on outside
Breaking through the threshold
Shaking, Breaking, Taking with all its might
Thunder claps and springs forth as destructive light
I can only cling desperately to mother’s side

The winds disperse and all is bright again
Forever our lives would surely change
We gather the pieces of our broken dream
If only this destruction could have been foreseen
Hope is lost, to the beastly storm without and within
